Richard Harrison was a very popular beefcake model in the late 1950's. He appeared in campy science fiction films like Kronos before heading to Europe to act in the sword-and-sandal films that were hugely popular at the time. Later, he appeared in spaghetti westerns, before transitioning successfully into a variety of film genres all the way into the 1980's.

In 1961, he married his first wife, Loretta, who was the daughter of James H. Nicholson, the co-owner of American International Pictures. This pairing likely had a positive effect on his early acting career.

In the late 1990's, with his second wife, Francesca, at this side, he twice ran unsuccessfully for the mayor's office in Palm Springs, California.
